2016 PKI Global Trends Study

This report summarizes the findings from a global survey of over 1500 practitioners on current trends in public key infrastructure (PKI), including use of best practices, deployment trends, and how HSMs are used to protect high value PKI private keys.
Many organizations built PKIs in the early to mid-2000s to support certificate issuance for applications like strong authentication and SSL. Now, an increasing number of enterprise applications are in need of certificate issuance services, and many older PKIs are not equipped to support them. New cloud applications/services, as well as the Internet of Things, are the latest initiatives and trends to drive changes in PKI.
